Photo by @junmichaelpark Kyrgyz and Uzbek riders clash during a kok boru match. Kok boru is the national sport of Kyrgyzstan. Men on horseback race and compete to carry the carcass of a headless goat weighing 40 kilograms (88 pounds) to a goal. The riders try to tug the goat from their opponents, with the reins between their teeth, or block their routes with the horses. Sometimes they fall off onto the dirt ground. It is a rough, and sometimes dangerous, sport. It is like an extreme combination of soccer, polo, and rugby. The sport requires trust between the riders and horses.
